72: Be Proud Of Your Accomplishments Whether You Are Starting A Business, You Are Self-Employed, A Solopreneur, Entrepreneur, Small Business Owner, Remote Virtual Online Bookkeeper, Virtual Assistant Or VA

When you think about how far you’ve come in your business, do you feel proud of yourself? Most business owners will answer this question by thinking not really or talk about where they need to go in their business as they dismiss the question so that they don’t feel like they are being annoying or overconfident with themselves. It is easy to complete an accomplishment or goal and quickly start to focus on the next goal without taking the time to acknowledge your success. Being proud of your accomplishments and giving yourself a pat on the back for doing an amazing job can be hard to do for yourself, but you wouldn’t even think twice if your child accomplished something big, or a friend just nailed one of their goals, right? In today’s podcast episode, I am going to help you to understand why thinking about being proud of your achievements is OK to do and why it isn’t coming from a place where you are just trying to get additional attention or even being egotistical. It is simply to prove to yourself that you have shown up, done the work and have made a difference in the world. That deserves a celebration, and it doesn’t matter if you are just getting started with your business, you are a self-employed individual, a solopreneur, entrepreneur, small business owner, a remote, virtual, online or in-house bookkeeper, or a virtual assistant or VA. The accomplishments you are achieving will be different at every stage of your business, but no matter how big or small, you need to recognize your accomplishments so that you are able to strive to be better in the future. Listen in, as we talk about how taking the time to be proud of yourself for your accomplishments will make an impact on not only yourself, but the success of your business as well. It doesn’t matter if you are using a computerized software system like QuickBooks, Xero, Wave or FreshBooks for your business finances, or if you are doing your bookkeeping manually with an Excel spreadsheet or even a Google Document, this episode will be helpful for you…

Welcome Back…Being proud of who you are and what you have become is essential to creating your self-worth. By taking a look at what you have done in your business and being proud of how far you have come in your business it will help you to promote your self-worth in your business and create passion for the work that you are doing which in turn motivates you to continue to do more and allows the impact you are making with your business to grow. It is a circle that continues as long as you take the time to recognize your accomplishments and be proud of yourself and the path your business is on.

If I asked you to tell me what one thing is that you are most proud of in your business, what would you say? Are you able to come up with a few accomplishments? Being proud of yourself doesn’t always come naturally, it can be hard to create this feeling about yourself, so today I’m giving you some tips to make sure that you are able to find things you are proud of in yourself and your business.

First, I’d like you to take a few moments and write a list of accomplishments you’ve overcome since you originally started your business. This may be just a few months ago, or you may have been in business for years. Either way, I’m sure you will be able to come up with lots of accomplishments. I don’t want you to think that a certain accomplishment is too small to be proud of or to even write down. If you’ve accomplished it, write it down. It’s up to you to feel proud of these accomplishments. Write down everything that you can think of. One of your first accomplishments may have been to come up with a business name or even your first product or service you were going to sell. It may be that you took the steps to register your business or started to tell your friends and family that you were starting your own business. These are all accomplishments and steppingstones we as business owners need to take to get to the next accomplishment. Even if you haven’t reached your fullest potential or reached your end goal, you can still be proud of how much you have achieved so far. As you create your list, you may want to hang onto it and continue to add to the list as you accomplish even more in your business. As the day to day operations in your business continue, it is easy to forget how far you have come in your business and keeping this list to reflect on over time will help you create that sense of self-worth and pride which is helpful for you to review on days when you may be feeling a little depleted or lacking ambition.

When you are recognizing your accomplishments, don’t compare your accomplishments with others or other businesses. You want to make sure that you are looking within yourself to find what you are proud of. It doesn’t matter if you know of another business that you think is doing better than yours or another business owner who seems to have everything together and is accomplishing more than you are accomplishing in your business. You need to focus on your accomplishments no matter how big or small they are. It is your dreams and your business that are making an impact on people you want to reach, so it is your responsibility to stay in your lane and do what you can to recognize and be proud of where you are in your business.

You need to make sure that you recognize and be proud of your accomplishments so that you can strive to be an even better business owner and have influence in the world with your business. Each accomplishment you achieve will help you drive your purpose for your business and create the mindset you need to continuously show up to do the work needed to continue to make an impact on others. This alone should make you proud. Just take a minute to think about how many people you have touched with your business. If you are just starting out, maybe you’ve only had an impact on one person, but that is one person that you have helped in the world. This is nothing to dismiss. If your goal is to help others and you know you’ve helped even one person, you are doing exactly what you set out to do. Now you just need to keep moving forward and watch your impact grow. If you’ve been in business for a while, how many people have you impacted? It can be easy to lose sight of this, but you know what your goals were when you first started your business. Be proud of where you are and acknowledge where you are in your business at this moment.

Share your success with others and celebrate your wins. Don’t keep your accomplishments bottled up inside of yourself. Tell others what you have accomplished and what you’ve been working on. Let them know what is going well and new projects you may have coming up in the future. Sharing with others should feel good to you. If you do it right, you should never feel like you are bragging. The more you share with others, the easier it will be to do it in the future and the better you will feel about sharing. It can be hard at first to share with others as you are patting yourself on the back for a job well done, but as you build your sense of self-worth and be authentic when sharing, this will get easier over time. Make sure you are accepting compliments gracefully that you receive as you are sharing your proud moments. Being a role model and showing how you can be proud as well as humble when talking about your achievements is an amazing way to celebrate your wins. As you are sharing your success, ask others about their success as well. When you do this, not only are you helping yourself by creating feelings of pride, but you are al
