Hey there, I’m Chris Panek, Certified Public Accountant, Certified Coach, and the host of the Mastering Your Small Business Finances Podcast, and I want to welcome you to this new series I’m doing on this podcast.  My intention is to drop one of these additional episodes every Monday while I continue to provide you with the regular Mastering Your Small Business Finances podcast episodes, which will continue to help you take control of and understand your business finances with topics that ultimately impact your bottom line.  I have many business owners, accountants, and other high-stress professionals who listen to this podcast, and I want to get more help out there for individuals like you when it comes to mastering your mindset.  I’ll be taking a few moments each week to touch on topics that many high-stress professionals are dealing with and provide solutions to help you increase your overall well-being.  Because I know your time is valuable, just like the Mastering Your Small Business Finances podcast, my goal is to keep these episodes short and straight to the point but full of useful information to help you succeed in not only your professional life but your personal life as well.

Think about the last few days.  Do you think you were feeling happy?  When you look at your life, do you consider it a happy life?  So many of us think that a happy life just happens to us, but what if we looked a little further to see what is truly causing your life to be happy.

 

First, I want to ask you to define what a happy life would look like for you.  What would a happy day need to consist of?  Do you think that being happy is based on a circumstance like your job, your finances, your family situation, or how much stuff you have or don’t have in your life?

 

What if I told you that feeling happy or any other emotion you want to feel is all based on what you are thinking?  It’s your mindset, and it isn’t created by any of the circumstances I just mentioned or any that I didn’t cover.  You’ve probably heard the saying that money can’t buy happiness, right?  What this means is that your happiness actually comes from within you and not from anything you can buy.  Ultimately, the secret of creating a happier life is all in your control.

 

Think about some of the people you know who appear to have everything.  They have a big house, a fancy car, a job that makes them lots of money, the perfect spouse, and the ideal two-and-a-half kids.  Are they all happy?  They may appear happy, and unfortunately, you’ll never know if they truly are happy or not because you can’t feel their feelings, but so often, you can see that they are unhappy or miserable.  This proves that you can have all the things and still be unhappy.  If you are currently believing that a circumstance in your life is what will make you happy, I want you to think again.  I know this is quite a mindset shift, but when you fully understand this shift, it will really blow your mind.  I know it did for me.
