This is common among entrepreneurs and solopreneurs, so don’t feel like you are the only one with these feelings. Welcome Back…Have you heard about how beneficial mastermind groups are to business owners? Maybe you already belong to a mastermind group, and you see how advantageous it can be. There are many successful entrepreneurs who say that being in a mastermind is the key to having a successful and fulfilling business. Not only will it help you achieve your business goals, but it will expand your vision for your business and allow you to reach far beyond your initial goals.
Let’s start off with what a mastermind group is all about. Being in business is often lonely, especially if you are a solo entrepreneur and you are running your business on your own. As the business owner, you feel like every decision you make you are making on your own. You are the one that knows your business inside and out. Sure, you could talk to friends and family about your challenges and decisions, but if they are not entrepreneurs as well, they really don’t understand the full impact of these important decisions. That’s where a mastermind can be advantageous for both your development as a business owner and the success and growth of your business.
A mastermind is a small group of people with a similar vision who meet regularly. They all have goals and understand what owning a business and reaching for the next level is all about. They build trusted relationships and a community where they can work as a team to eliminate all those feelings of isolation from being the sole decision maker. They also enjoy being able to run ideas past this newly formed confidential network of entrepreneurs, just like themselves, to discuss challenges, solve problems and celebrate successful accomplishments. This peer-to-peer model helps you create connections with others who motivate you to reach your goals. You are able to gain new perspectives from others in the mastermind and they will challenge you to ask yourself tough questions, troubleshoot issues with you and bring your business to the next level.
Next, let’s talk about the benefits for you as a business owner when you join a mastermind community. In addition to getting other people’s perspectives, you will also be able to share skills with other group members. Every individual in a mastermind group has a different skillset and education background. When you have a combined group of experienced individuals, you have the ability to ask questions or advice regarding certain challenges you are facing, and on the other hand, you are able to offer your expertise to others who may have less experience in your specific knowledge base. You can also offer advice on challenges you have already experienced to help others overcome obstacles they are currently facing.
Accountability is another huge benefit when you are part of a mastermind group. When you have a chance to let others know what your goals are or what you are striving to accomplish before the next meeting, you know you have a group of people who are going to hold you accountable to ensure you are setting the right goals and are looking forward to seeing you progress report and results. Not only will you be held accountable, but you will find that you are making much more timely decisions. You’ll also be hearing about the success of the others in your mastermind group which will help motivate you to be successful at reaching your goals as well.
Long-term relationships, connections and close bonds are formed with your mastermind group members. Since you are meeting on a regular basis and are communicating directly with each other, it is easy to form these relationships. You are in a place where you are working together to accomplish goals. Having a close relationship with other members in your mastermind comes very naturally since you are all working together on similar goals. Knowing that you are helping others just as much as you are receiving help is such an incredible way to create life-long connections. Having this close network of individuals is crucial to your business growth.
Now, let’s talk about how a mastermind group works. Mastermind groups vary in how they are executed, but in general, each mastermind group will meet on a regular basis. The meeting will normally begin with a chance for everyone to share their wins or accomplishments since the last meeting. Next there is an opportunity for individuals to be in a “hot seat” where they will be able to share a problem or idea and ask for high value feedback and brainstorming sessions from the group. You will find yourself receiving new ideas and insights that the others in your group are thinking. These may be insights that you never even thought about, and the collaboration is priceless. Since there are usually many topics you as a business owner could choose from for your hot seat, you want to choose the topic that would be most crucial or will make the biggest impact on your business. Everyone is encouraged to be as honest as possible. This is the perfect time for you to get an outside perspective to help make smart business decisions. The meeting will then wrap up with everyone having a chance to talk about their goals or next steps they want to achieve prior to the next meeting.
Does this sound like something you need to advance yourself as a business owner or to help you grow your business? Are you ready to gain traction in your business, think bigger, get ahead of your competition, gain critical insights to level up your business in the most efficient manner possible all while experiencing mutual growth and improvement from your new “board of directors” who are honest with you and bring positive energy by celebrating your wins with you at each and every meeting?
