Welcome Back… Today on the podcast, I’m going to respond to a few of the questions I’ve been getting through email and messages about the Strategic Bookkeeping Academy. I’m going to answer them right here on the podcast because I’ve received a lot of questions, which made me realize you want more details. So what I did was compiled the questions I received, and I’m going to answer the most common questions for you here today.
I’m going to start with what is the Strategic Bookkeeping Academy? I created the Strategic Bookkeeping Academy for business owners and bookkeepers who are doing their own bookkeeping and are looking for additional help. This program is for the business owners who are not looking for someone to do their books; they want to do their own bookkeeping but need to learn more so they can do a better job of doing their own bookkeeping. It’s for business owners who already have a bookkeeper, but they struggle with not knowing what they need to look at in their business and want to understand their financial statements and have a good handle on what their bookkeeper is doing for them. It’s also for bookkeepers who are still refining their bookkeeping processes so that they are able to deliver the best bookkeeping services to their clients. I am taking the same processes I use when I do the bookkeeping for my clients as well as the consulting and training they hire me for on a one-on-one basis so they can learn to do their own bookkeeping, and I’m combining it in a simple and easy to follow program so that you can take control of your bookkeeping and actually understand how your business is doing. It outlines the process I follow with my clients, and they have created amazing results with these processes. Right now, I have the program split into four sections. I start you out with Set-Up For Success. In this section, I cover the initial set-up of your bookkeeping foundation and your mindset, as this will follow you throughout your bookkeeping journey. You will learn the best strategies from someone who has helped various business owners, and I know exactly what has worked, and I know where they get stuck. Next, we’ll move into Organization is Key. Here you’ll take a look at your overall workflows, and I’ll share my processes and explain the different options that will fit your business model the best. You’ll know exactly how to capture everything coming into your office and how to make sure you can easily find items in the future which will eliminate feelings of overwhelm. We then move into Tracking Money In & Out of your business. This includes how to classify your expenses and the best ways to do your invoicing. Not only will this save you time, but it will take away the guesswork you have about how to record each of your money transactions. And lastly, you’ll learn how to Maximize Your Results. You’ll learn how to utilize the information you’ve captured to make smart business decisions. You’ll be confident with the results you see in your reports and will have the knowledge to understand what your financial statements mean. You’ll have peace of mind and confirm your ability to do your own bookkeeping. We’ll talk about reconciling your accounts as well as which reports you should be looking at on a regular basis. You’ll create the most efficient step-by-step bookkeeping system to use for your business, and you can jump in wherever you currently are in your bookkeeping journey and get exactly what you are looking for; and I cover the day-to-day situations you come across when you are doing your own bookkeeping. The next question I have been getting is, who is the Strategic Bookkeeping Academy for. I kind of already addressed this already, but it is for anyone who is doing bookkeeping either as a business owner or someone who is doing bookkeeping for a business. You don’t need to have any prior bookkeeping education or certifications. I walk you through how to set up your bookkeeping system and make sure that all the financial data you are entering is accurate. You’ll have all the foundational tools you need to create a step-by-step bookkeeping program that works for your specific business. It’s really for anyone who needs help with getting their bookkeeping set up from the beginning and learning the foundational tools and most efficient processes for their business, as well as someone who needs to learn more about the bookkeeping they are already doing so they can do a better job at doing their own bookkeeping. It is also for the business owner who already has a bookkeeper and simply wants to understand the bookkeeping being done for their business and gain confidence when they are reading their financial statements. You’ll find that many of the topics I cover in this program can be related to your personal finances and will help you grow as an individual to fully understand your finances as a whole.
The following questions I have received are, why did I create the Strategic Bookkeeping Academy. Why do I think this is needed and what was my reasoning behind why I wanted to create it. There are several reasons, but mostly I receive comments and questions from business owners and bookkeepers all the time asking questions about how to do their bookkeeping or that they are stuck on a particular entry when doing their bookkeeping, and it is holding them up, so they stop their bookkeeping completely. I wanted to create this program so that they are able to follow a program and get the answers they are looking for when they need them. The bookkeeping process for most businesses is very similar, and I wanted to have this process ready for anyone who wanted to learn the fastest and most efficient way to do their bookkeeping. There are so many people who are struggling with their bookkeeping because they have a simple question, but they don’t have anyone they can ask their question to. I want to be there for those people; I want to help business owners and bookkeepers be the best they can be when doing their own bookkeeping, even if they currently don’t feel comfortable doing it. I wanted to create a program where it is easy for business owners and bookkeepers to learn what they should be doing daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly. There are many times when I hear clients say they don’t know what they don’t know when it comes to their business. This program takes that uncertainty away by helping them see exactly what they need to do when they do their own bookkeeping, and they also have the knowledge to know which reports they can review once they have all their data recorded accurately. Automation with computerized software systems is gaining popularity. It saves time when it comes to data entry, but you still need to know how to set it up properly, and this step is getting missed a lot. I want to make sure that whenever someone is going to take advantage of the automated entries in computerized software systems, that they truly get to reap the benefits of these solutions rather than have a set of financial statements they can’t rely on because they didn’t really know what was happening when the automations were being performed. This is a unique program and solution for doing your own bookkeeping, and I feel like there are so many programs and ways to do your bookkeeping, but in my opinion, they are all missing the processes needed to do it correctly and to apply them to your specific business. I want business owners and bookkeepers to be aware of the options to do their bookkeeping efficiently, but they are missing a piece of the puzzle about how to apply these solutions to their business. This program helps them with this exact issue. I listened to business owners and bookkeepers just like you and created this program to fill in the gaps. Bookkeeping isn’t complicated; it just takes some simple processes to put in place and a schedule so that everything is done in a timely manner.
